Meet our Pastors

Rev. Wally Arp
After graduating from the University of Iowa, I attended Concordia Theological Seminary in Ft. Wayne, IN. My wife, Lois, serves in the public schools as a high school mathematics teacher. We have four children and four grandchildren. I came to St. Luke’s in 1998, having served a congregation in Iowa for 10 years. In addition to being Senior Pastor, my main areas of responsibility include oversight of the Board for Stewardship, Board of Trustees, and School Board.
Believe it or not? I am a life-long believer in Jesus Christ but actively resisted ever becoming a pastor, or at least a stereotypical pastor.
Rev. Brian Roberts
Born in El Paso, TX, I grew up near the “other” Disney site, the city of Anahaim, CA. After attending Concordia Theological Seminary in Fort Wayne, I was called to a congregation in the Garden State: New Jersey. My wife, Ruth, works as a preschool teacher and Community Night Coordinator at St. Luke’s. We have four wonderful children. My main area of responsibility is Director of Outreach. This includes oversight of the Board for Evangelism, its outreach components, and includes development of the multi-site locations in Chuluota and Sanford.
Believe it or not? I met “Jersey Girl” wife while serving in Randolph, NJ.
Rev. Gary Schuschke
Prior to completing pastoral training at Concordia Seminary in St. Louis, I completed my Bachelor’s at the University of Northern Colorado and an elementary teaching endorsement at Concordia University in Seward, NE. The two Lutheran elementary schools I served were at opposite ends of the nation. One was in west Texas and the other in Alexandria, VA, about 15 minutes from the White House. After serving St. Luke’s as a Vicar, I began my ministry at St. Luke’s in 2000. The Board of Elders and Board for Human Care are my main areas of responsibility. In addition, I maintain a close connection with the educational opportunities offered at St. Luke’s.
Believe it or not? I was raised in mountains west of Colorado Springs, CO where weekly ski lessons were part of the PE curriculum.
Rev. Scott Abel
The beautiful mountains and hills of Eastern Tennessee is where I call home. After studying at the University of Tennessee (Chattanooga), I graduated from Concordia Seminary (St. Louis). My wife, Leah, is Director of Christian Education at St. Luke’s. We met during my vicarage and I began ministry at St. Luke’s in 2005. Being a lifelong Christian did not preclude me from having periods of intense questioning and searching. These struggles ultimately led me to becoming a pastor. Do you have questions and doubts about what you believe? I’d love to meet you and listen to your story. My main focus at St. Luke’s is serving as Director of Worship.
Believe it or not? I have found that there is nothing quite as relaxing as gently floating down a quiet Florida stream.
Vicar Chris Weber
I am originally from Michigan. I did my undergraduate work at Concordia University, Wisconsin, where I met Sonja, my wife of three years. After graduation we moved to my wife’s hometown of St. Louis so I could start my studies at the Seminary. We have one daughter and our second child is on the way.
Believe it or not? My hometown in Michigan gets 300 inches of snow a year.
Vicarage is a one year internship as part of our four year seminary program.
